2026 CBJJ Brasileiro Results: Kingz Athletes Dominate in São Paulo
Last week marked the 2026 CBJJ Brasileiro Championships in Barueri, São Paulo, Brazil — without a doubt the most intense tournament of the IBJJF Grand Slam, not only because of the high-level athletes competing, but also because of the energy from the crowd.
We want to take this opportunity to congratulate all our Kingz athletes on their performances. Win or lose, stepping onto the competition mat is an achievement.
There were some standout performances we’d like to highlight.
Tainan Dalpra
Black Belt - Middleweight Division
Another standout performance from Tainan Dalpra, who continues his dominant run after winning Europeans and Pans, now becoming a 3x CBJJ Brazilian Nationals Champion.
Dalpra dominates his division once again with a 100% submission rate, showcasing a complete arsenal: armbar, choke from the back, cross choke, and a toe hold in the finals.
Once again, he reinforces his position at the top of the division and moves closer to completing the Grand Slam this year.

Sarah Galvao
Black Belt - Lightweight Division Champion & Second Place in the Open Class
Sarah Galvão keeps her name at the top of the Lightweight division while making waves in the Open Class, all in less than a year as a black belt.
On her way to gold in the Lightweight, Sarah won all three matches without giving up a single point.
In the absolute division, she dominated with armbar submissions through the semifinals before facing Gabi Pessanha in the final, where she put on another impressive performance to take silver.
After a seven-match run, Sarah Galvão secures her first Brasileiro title as a black belt and turns her focus to Worlds.
Ashlee Funegra
Black Belt – Light Featherweight Division
Ashlee Funegra continues her rise in the black belt division. After winning Europeans and closing out the Pans with a teammate, she traveled to Brazil to capture another IBJJF Grand Slam title.
Ashlee won three matches with a 67% submission rate — finishing two matches by submission, with a triangle and a cross choke.
Mia Funegra
Black Belt – Featherweight Division
After three tough matches, Mia Funegra made a statement in her Brazilian Nationals debut, taking gold.
She went 3–0 with a 100% submission rate (two chokes and an armbar) to claim her second Grand Slam title as a black belt.

Elisabeth Clay
Black Belt – Middleweight Division
After an injury in the semifinals of the IBJJF Pans earlier this year, Elisabeth Clay came back in style.
With a 100% submission rate, she put together a dominant run, highlighted by her final match against Lillian Marchand, a rematch of the Pans final.
She controlled much of the match by targeting the legs, eventually sweeping and isolating both of Marchand’s legs before attacking a combination of a kneebar and a toe hold, forcing the tap with the toe hold.
Clay now became a 2x Brazilian Nationals champion.

Leonardo Ferreira
Black Belt – Heavyweight Division
Leonardo Ferreira started the Brasileiro with a quick submission, finishing his first opponent with a choke in just 38 seconds. He followed it up with three more wins to take the title in one of the most stacked brackets of the tournament.

Sergio “Pichilinga” Rios
Black Belt – Open Class Champion & Third Place in the Heavyweight Division (Master 1)
Sergio “Pichilinga” doing Sergio things. After losing in the semifinals of the heavyweight division, he came back strong in the absolute, claiming the title with a 100% submission rate.
Hazel Butcher
Brown Belt - Heavyweight & Open Class Champion
Hazel Butcher added another major achievement to her 2026 season, capturing double gold at the CBJJ Brasileiro.
She stood out and won both the heavyweight division and the open class, continuing the momentum from her gold-medal performances at Europeans and Pans earlier this year.
With titles now at Europeans, Pans, and Brasileiros, she moves one step closer to completing the IBJJF Grand Slam.

Natalee Funegra
Purple Belt – Light Featherweight Division
Natalee Funegra’s first year in the adult division has been a blast so far. After winning Europeans and Pans this year, she delivered an impressive performance in her first time competing in Brazil, taking home gold.

Angelus “Lutinha” Franca
Blue Belt – Light Featherweight Division (Juvenile)
Year after year, the juvenile division at the Brasileiro continues to elevate the level of competition. Angelo “Lutinha” Franca delivered a perfect run, winning all five matches to secure the IBJJF Brazilian Nationals title.
Micheal Whelan
Blue Belt – Open Class Champion & Lightweight Second Place (Close Out - Juvenile)
After winning seven matches, Michael Whelan advanced to the finals in both the lightweight division and the open class, closing out both divisions with a teammate to claim gold.

Deborah Melo
Blue Belt - Heavyweight Champion (Juvenile)
Deborah Melo continues to dominate the juvenile division, adding another gold medal to her impressive 2026 season with a title at the Brasileiro.
After capturing double gold at both Europeans and Pans earlier this year, Deborah kept her momentum going in Brazil and now turns her attention to the IBJJF Worlds.
